I am only 34 and have always been able to carry insurance on myself, for the most part. I was diagnosed with adult ADD when I was about 27 and once I started taking medication I thought "wow, thank god. I finally feel normal." Well then I when I was 31 or so I was diagnosed with precancer in my cervix and was to take a medication for the rest of my life so the cancer didn't develop.. Well I didn't take well to the medication and started having all sorts of problems which led to me quiting my steady job, that was two years ago. I have not been able to hold a job since and have not been able to take any of the needed medication to prevent cancer or feel normal. Now at 34 I have developed Diabetes and all I can think about is how the heck am I going to make it through all this...I am still not working, I have had to move in with my mom and the ADD medication alone costs almost $600, without insurance.....It's rough times and not feeling good.
