When the seasons change, the human body swithes its bio rythms as well. Not surprisingly many nutritionists advise that we increase the consumption of the B and C vitamin families, thus strenghtening our immune system. In parts of Europe, there are entire villages whose markets switch from offering summer fruit (watermellon, plums etc.) and start selling primarily fruit with higher vitamin contents and slightly higher calorific values (grapes, figs etc). The belief is that the different fruit gives the body more nutrients and gets it ready for the fall.
