I got up one day and started my day by going out in my yard. I was working in my garden and decided to take a break and sit in my chair. I sat for a few minutes to rest and then got up to go into the house to get a drink. That's when it happened. My right leg went out from under me and I went down. I couldn't get up again. I lay there for five hours until my wife came home from work and found me lying on the floor. She called the ambulance and I was taken to the local hospital where I was diagnosed with a stroke and high blood pressure and diabetes. My life has changed now and I'm limited as to what I can do. I am retired and receiving Medicare. My monthly prescriptions are costing over $400 a month and this is putting a burden on my wife. She works many long hours and is trying to keep up with regular monthly bills along with our mortgage. She has looked into assistance programs, but is always told the same answer, we get too much money. It isn't taken into consideration what amount of money goes out of the house only what comes in. We are not looking for charity, but a little help would be nice. Thanks for listening to our tale of woe.
