I was layed off due to down sizing May 10, 2007 after 17 yrs. My daughter has Evans Syndrome, which requires 4 different medicines and sometimes a stay in the hospital. Not having insurance after being layed off, I took my small retirement, paying for Cobra insurance for two months so that she would have health care. Now that I can't afford the Cobra insurance I am having a problem getting health care for her. I tried to keep it up so that she would not fall in the pre existing category with other insurance companies. I am currently working with my states department of human services to see if we can get state insurance on her, there is so much red tape. I tried to get discounted medicines for her, they only cover two, which cost the least amount. Having worked all my life, doing the right thing, I have never felt so defeated. Had I been a dead beat parent, not worked, lived of the Tax payers, I could understand. Here I just need some help until I can get back on my feet. Maybe if I had a dozen kids, instead of the two I have, didn't work and laid around all day I could understand. Somebody please help me to understand how this could happen.
