I managed for physicians fro 15 years and I am still confused as to why they continually perscribe new drugs for their patients when (in most cases) a generic drug will give the same results and effects. There are many ohysicians who prescribe medication without any thought to the patient's cost. The physicians are so far removed from struggling Americans that they have no concept on drug costs aas it related to disposal income. The drug companies give samples to physicians who use the samples as starter kits for about 2 weeks. The drug companies never give samples for distribution that are generic. When the patient has good results from the non-generic medication, the doctor gives a long-term perscription to the patients without care of the cost or giving the patient an alternative generic substitute. The drup compnaies track the perscribing physician's patterns and rewards the physicians who prescribe the higher cost medications. Tell your doctor that in every instance available that you prefer a generic drug and help lower the cost of healthcare.
