I came to this site via Google Search when I searched for "free vision discount card". I have been trying to get to the eye doctor for about a year now, and it has been 2 years since my last visit. I am usually a contact wearer, but I have been wearing my glasses since I ran out of contacts. They are uncomfortable for me and they make my face more oily and break out; However, I have had a lot of unexpected expenses over the past year that have made me push off a visit to the vision provider in favor of other people's health care or financial needs.

We are by no means destitute, but what savings we have has been depleted by about $4000.00 over the past few months.

We also have a medical bill for my fiancee totaling approx $5000.00 and are waiting to hear if he can get medical assistance to help cover it. He visited the emergency room because he was vomiting and passing blood in his stool, and did not have health care at the time. He was between jobs.

I am also diagnosed with chronic depression and anxiety. I have no coverage for mental health, though I do have prescription coverage. I pay $60 for a 10 minute appointment for med checks. My son also sees a psychiatrist about 3 times a month, which his father's medical covers (thankfully), and that is $15/visit.

My medical insurance (which is thankfully reimbursed through my company) keeps raising the price and covering less - very little vision coverage (like 10% off), no mental health, and raising copays for visits and scrips.

I am extremely thankful that we are not among the extremely bad off, and I feel for the people who are so badly affected by the health care in this country. It is completely appalling!
