My health insurance is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, which is a major carrier in the state of Florida. My deductible is over $1000 per year, yet I still have to pay close to $1000 per month. There is barely any drug coverage. Every time I go to a pharmacy or a doctor, I still end up paying paying a large chunk of the bill myself. As an example I went to a pharmacy the other day to pick up my prescriptions - my "discounted" insurance price was $1200 instead of regular pharmacy retail price of $1400... Does this even make sense? I thought that insurance suppose to "insure" you against large out of pocket expenses. Something need to change soon...
