My Dearest Friend (3)
My best friend had a rare condition called an A V M (arterio veinouis malformation) that means that his arteries and his vains were growing together in his spine. He had two of them. They (the docs) don't know where they came from. The first ruptured at age 21 in a location in his spine, paralizing him from armpits down. The docs said he would never regain feeling in his lower half. My best friend dissagreed. He not only regained sensation but learned to walk again, first with a walker, then a cane then simply a leg brace. He became self seficent again! Had a job as a security guard, and his own home 9 years later. 6 months after taking the steps to be on his own the second ruptured. He died alone in his shower.
