Concerns have been raised about petting zoos and hygiene problems. Petting zoos are popular for year end school trips and summer family outings. Many young children will wiggle their fingers through the hair of rabbits, goats, lamas, ponies and such. Then put their fingers in or near their mouths, noses and eyes or eat cool treats before washing their hands. That put them at risk of infections such as E. coli and salmonella. Keep a watch out and keep it clean so you don't end up with sick children a day or so after all the fun.
