It seems that no matter what you try, not having a job makes it next to impossible to have any medical care. You hear so often of the person who dies because they don't have the insurance to get the heart/liver/bone marrow transplant that they so desperately need.

One day, I was at the department of corrections picking up some paperwork for a friend. Waiting to be acknowledged, I was reading anything that I could find on the wall. One thing caught my attention almost immediately. Homeless people get free medical and dental care. Hey, even when I was working and had insurance, I still couldn't afford to replace my bottom dentures, which have now broken completely in half and are totally useless. I can't go to the doctor to get new prescriptions (if I could afford to fill the ones that I now have). Nor could I afford to go to the emergency room if I suddenly develop appendicitis.

Why is it that people (and I'm not counting everybody) can get medical care but, a person who's trying hard can't afford it and thus go without? I'm telling you, it's this system that's so irritating and makes a person so depressed.
