In my opinion, Colorado is one of the hardest places to get health care if you are uninsured. If you are over 18 and not pregnent, Medicaid is out of the question. There are very FEW resources here. I just want to commend the doctor here in Trinidad, CO who has chosen to donate her time (and all the others that work at this clinic) They run the clinic every first and third Tuesday of the month and anyone who doesn't have the money to see a doctor and is uninsured can just walk in without an appointment and be seen. This doctor is good and she is so caring. If you don't go to your follow up appointment for any reason, she will either call you or send you a letter. The only thing they charge for is for blood work and at an incredible discount. Bloodwork that normally costs me around $400 at our local hospital is around $35 at this clinic and they even mail you the results! I have never even had a "paid" doctor do that for me! She goes out of her way to find a medication that will work for you and the best price and even has a list of prices from the local pharmacies for medications! Her volunteer staff will fill out all the paperwork needed for the pharmacy programs through certain companies and do it with a smile! I don't know if you are allowed to mention names on this site, so I have not said who she is, but if anyone lives in Colorado and doesn't have insurance and needs to see a doctor with no hassles and no questions asked- go to the Samaritan Clinic every first and third Tuesday of the month in Trinidad, Colorado - it is located on the corner of Linden and Frost in what used to be a church. This lady has definately been a blessing to our community!
