November Sunday (2)
Shortly after a family member passed away, I felt an unfamiliar pain in my body on the way home from church. The pain I felt was very intense. Naturally, I was very afraid. In my 11 years as a young lady, I had never experienced what I experienced in the car on that brisk afternoon in November -- I remember exactly what I was wearing and the scenery I was unable to enjoy out of the car window because the pain prevented me of concentrating on anything other than the piercing feeling in my abdomen. When I got home, I discovered blood in my underwear -- I had no idea that my life would never be the same. Within the following weeks, my parents rushed me the emergency room after I woke up in the middle of the night with unbearable pain -- hours and x-rays later, I was prepped for an apandectomy. Moments before my scheduled procedure, the true source of my agony was revealed when I began a period. 7 years later, with no progress in controlling the beast that was my period, I was diagnosed with endometriosis.
