My adoptive son is 19 years old he was blessed with a 4 year scholarship to Meramac College in St. Louis Mo for basketball, my son was born to a crack addicted mother who gave up all 3 of her children to continue to smoke crack. She has since had 7 other children that the state or other members of her family are raising he is the only one out of the 10 that have graduated and began attending college. now this child was born with chronic asthma but since he began playing basketball he hasn't had a serious attack in about 2 years (because of the physical activity I guess) but at night and during the summer months is when he has the hardest time breathing I called in his perscription to Walgreens and was informed that his Flovent inhaler will cost us $150 a month now since he has turned 19 we have lost our medicaid benefits and can't affor his medicine let alone mine which is a synthyroid and 2 high blood pressure pills. This month I could not afford to buy all of our medicine so all I could purchase was my synthyroid which cost me $80 a month so I couldn't afford to purchase my high blood pressure pills or his asthma medication. I've been searching the internet trying to find something or someone who can help us. No-one can live without a thyroid, my teeth are falling out (only 13 left), I'm a menapausal, unemployed 48 year old, African American female struggling to keep my head above water. I've raised 5 kids on my own through welfare, any job that I could get and hold on to with no help from any of the fathers. They are great kids (now all adults) with no police records, no gang affilliation,no drug usage and I can say is how proud i am of my children for deciding to make the right choices.
