I had a heart attack on August 1, 2006. I went to pick up my first
new prescriptions and it happened that I had met my 1000.00 max
on prescriptions which I did not know I had and was not explained to
me by my insurance agent, therefore we had to pay full price (with a
SMALL discount) and now I have already met the max again for this
year. Medications for heart patients are very expensive, plavix, toprol,
vytorin and altace. The insurance company talked to the agent and
he said he explained it to us, but he did not. Why would we want a
maximum amount placed on medications at our age, and also
they said our hospital coverage was 80% up to 4000.00, also why
would we agree to that at our age? Our insurance company has
raised our premiums from 362.00 in 2002 to 733.00 today and it
stated that we would never be singled out for a premium increase.
I have not been able to work as I have in the passed few years,
therefore I am not making enough to pay these outragious prices
for my medications that I have to take every day. Any help on these
prescriptions would be greatly welcomed.
