So, I've been battling depression in recent years, having been diagnosed in the latter part of my college career. I wish I was being treated for it earlier, because at that point my classes were beginning to suffer. At any rate, I now have to repeat one class that my dean says I can retake in the following semester (after a break) if in the meantime I continue therapy/treatment/counseling for my depression (and/or test anxiety and study skills).

Seeing as how I'm taking a break from school, I am no longer covered by my parent's insurance: Wellbutrin is VERY expensive and any repeated doctor visits and counseling is hard on my wallet. And while I'm not currently a registered student, I can't benefit from the university's student services (aye, I miss those free counseling and my old doc).

I'm not financially supported by my parents anymore and being an Americorps volunteer isn't known for it's money. Needless to say, the financial strain of plus not seeing a counselor, not affording the meds, not seeing affording my psychiatrist, not affording a medical specialist (I need to be treated by an endocrinologist for other things) isn't really helping me get out of the hole.

The prospect of going back to school and getting my degree (and hopefully a better job WITH health benefits) is getting further and further away as I get more and more bogged down by troubles both financially, emotionally, mentally, and physically as I fight my own body's chemistry.

It's hard enough for me to try and go to a community clinic: I'm not a DC resident to partake of the clinic I CURRENTLY work at and being a college student, I tend to move residences every year, so even if I qualified for my current county's residency, it won't be for long, if long enough. Not a student, not a resident, not supported but not independent, I feel like I've fallen through a crack somewhere.
