Osteoporsis can be a deadly disease. But it is also preventable. Make sure you get enough calcium everyday through diet and calcium supplements. Do weight bearing exercises to prevent osteoporsis. Swimming and biking do not count as weight bearing exercises. A bone density scan or DEXA is a good idea for older people. This test will help you to determine if you are at risk for a fracure.
