Hi, I am an eighteen year old who has been living with diabetes since I was ten. My parents put me on a low cost state insurance plan that paid 100% of medical expenses. But the plan was only intended for children, so when I turned eighteen, I had to find another insurance plan. Most, if not all, private insurance companies will not insure people with a "preexisting condition." So now I am sitting hear about to leave for college without any sort a coverage. Not to mention the exorbitant cost of insulin and everything else. The cost for me just in medical expenses is over $800 a month. It makes me so angry how there is no safety net for people like me. What will it take? People dieing in the street?
