I was recently offered the opportunity from a woman in my church to become an independent business owner ("IBO") for a health care discount program called AmeriPlan. It's one of those network marketing deals where you're supposed to tap on all of your friends, relatives and acquaintances in order to recruit more IBO's into your down-line to help generate income. I was intrigued so I checked it out a little further. Overall, the plan's discount program seems pretty good but it's a little pricey to get in on all the goodies they offer; $59.99/month for the whole "shebang", but as low as $19.99 if you sign up for only the dental, vision, prescription and chiropractic. And of course, if you want to be an IBO you'll have to cough up a one time $95 enrollment as well as keep up your monthly coverage. Ultimately, I've decided to not participate in AmeriPlan. After doing a little research (and I mean only a little bit) I was able to turn up a number of prescription discount cards online for free--including the one offered here by UnitedProject. I'll print several of these discount cards off and see which one gives me the best savings at the pharmacy now that my former employer sponsored health insurance is ending. As for healthcare provider discount plans you can find what appears to be two attractive plans at www.alliancehealthcard.com. Both of Alliance Health Cards plans are cheaper than Ameriplan's cheapest plan ($9.99 or $15.99). If you're without health insurance coverage you might want to check into Alliance Health Card.
