Avoiding Surgery for Impingement Syndrome |

About three years ago, I had a lot of pain when lifting my left arm. I could not lift my hand above my shoulder (with arm straight) without a lot of pain in the deltoid region of my shoulder, as well as in my heart area, believe it or not.
My surgeon, who had performed arthroscopy on my knee, suggested cortisone shots to reduce swelling. Of course, these are now known to be degnerative, so they don't recommend more than three. Needless to say, that did not work, so he suggested surgery for "impingement syndrome."
But when I looked into the details of the surgery, it looked horroble! They were going to shave off some bone, and remove a tendon, and some other "small" things. And the recovery rate was not so good!
As a last ditch effort, I went to a chiropractor. After a preliminary exam, I was amazed when the chiro pointed out my heart area and said "does it hurt here?" She explained that my problem was some upper vertebrae out of whack.
She used a little handheld tool that had a springloaded thing that gently hammered my spine, then moved my arm all around, which I knew would make it hurt like crazy later. She told me it should probably feel better later, and I winced and nodded doubtfully.
An hour later, it was feeling so much better, I was amazed. All I have to say is, before getting shoulder surgery, give the chiropractor a try. My condition is gone, and no surgery. True story. |
