I am a very young african american female and just found out that i have high blood pressure and early diabetes. My doctor prescribed medication for both problems and wrote me a prescription as well. I went to the pharmacy to fill my prescription and handed the pharmacist my insurance card. The pharmacist tole me that my card was not activated. I called my insurance company and they told me that i would have to pay a deductible of $300 before they would pay for my prescriptions. Even after I paid the deductible I would have to pay for my prescriptions out of my pocket and mail in a claim form in order to be reimbursed. I only work part time and i am a full time student. With the cost of my medications I cannot afford to pay for my prescriptions even if i was going to be reimbursed.
