I am a 59 year old woman who has been disabled and fighting for health coverage since 1998. I suffer from many ailments such as Lupus, Gout, Heart disease. Though it was a back injury that lead to my disability.

July of 2007, I was placed in Hospice care due to my heart complications. Though, because I did not sign a DNR order, I was removed from the Hospice Care that I was under. But while I was in Hospice care, I was able to get SSI with Medicaid.

Little did I know, Medicaid only covers 3 of my many medications that I must take. So I am left to spending what little I have left in my pocket for high priced medications.

I as many fall under the “Typical Story” of poor medical and prescription coverage, and must sometimes make adjustments and sacrifices with utilities and food so that I can live to see another day.
