(GERD) Unlike most people, I have always had a difficult time keeping my weight on. Yes, I know, I am the envy of many. But if people knew what I was really going through, they would not be so envious. When you cannot keep your weight on, it can lead to illness, as your resistance is lower. But that is not the only kind of illness I am speaking of. I was tired of being sick and tired so I decided one day to really pack the food in and put on some extra pounds. I had already been used to going to the buffets and packing it in with one sitting. But this time I ate continuously throughout the day from morning until night for about two weeks. Amazingly I only put on a couple pounds. And regretfully, I developed a problem which the health professionals call GERD. While I was packing this food away and going to sleep on a full stomach, little did I realize that the food I ate was not digesting, but coming back up into my esophagus. It was burning out my throat, which is a catastrophe for me since I am a singer by trade. I went through numerous medical tests which confirmed this diagnosis. I tried several medications with no relief. I have now been struggling with this for over one year. In the meantime I am trying different natural remedies and modifying my diet. I believe when I find the right combination I will bring my digestive system back to normal once again. So here are some words of advice: take care of your digestive system; do not take it for granted; eat healthy and do not eat right before going to bed!
