In 2006 I had a nice job, decent wage, and insurance. I could afford to buy my asthma and RA meds, and my husband's seizure medication. Then a big corporation got the government contract the company I worked for bid on, and out the door I went. No job for three months, although I put in a lot of applications (as many as five a day). I applied for help to get prescriptions from a local agency, and heard nothing back, though I've called and mailed more information. My church gives me help, my family helps, and now I have a job, though it doesn't pay much and I'm not eligible for insurance yet.
I have kept my head up, and kept looking for work though my applications were mostly ignored. I reassure my husband (who can't work) constantly that things will be okay in the end. Some days are better than others, and we are better off than many people, and we keep carrying on.
