I am a now single mother currently without a college degree doing whatever it takes to provide a quality lifestyle for my 11 yr old son. I recently had to discontinue my health insurance coverage from my job due to needing to cover basic necessities in our everyday life. The rising cost of health insurance threw me into a search for assistance for my son and myself. I currently have sinus polyps that I have been told are from allergies. The allergy medication that I take is Allegra-D, for which there currently is not any generic. Without insurance, I have now found out the cost of Allegra-D for a one month supply is $123. I do not have a network of established contacts that I would feel comfortable with in caring for my son to have sinus surgery again to remove the polyps. The doctors also want me to have surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, which again I do not have anyone to care for my son, nor do I have enough full time benefits from my work to cover household expenses while I would be recuperating. There is not any regular support from the other parent for my son and our extended family is in Ohio, and they currently are not in a position to provide any kind of help. I am attempting to break this cycle without resorting to public assistance, for which I do not believe I could conceivably qualify for anyway. I want to expeditiously get a degree to get a better paying job, so I could again afford medical/dental insurance for myself and my son. I do not want to be caught spinning my wheels without any results.
