A new report in New England Journal of Medicine shows that women who took estrogen showed less hardening of their arteries than those who took placebo pills. This was yet another study in recent months to suggest that women who take hormones at the beginning of menopause seem to gain health benefits beyond just relief from hot flashes. This is in stark contrast to older women in their 60s and 70s who actually raise their health risks when they take hormones later in their lifes.
