I am a single mother of 2 teenagers who was diagnosed with Lupus 2 years ago. It does run in my family, as my mother was diagnosed 15 years ago. She seems to be able to handle it well, having been in remission for some time now. I, however, have never been in remission, and my condition worsens every month. I am terrified that I will not be able to control my disease, and this is compounded by the fact that I am now having infusion therapy of chemo medication. Since there is so little known about Lupus, there are not very many resources out there for people like me, trying to battle a debilitative disease, and losing. I am on 60 mg of Prednisone, 400 mg of Plaquenil, and 40 mg of Leflunomide. My body is going haywire with all this medication, and it doesn't help me feel any better. There is only one thing keeping me going each day. That is my faith. I truly believe that there is a reason this is happening to me, and I know that I will beat this disease into remission, hopefully soon. My faith gets me out of bed every day, and prayer gets me through the times when I feel I can't go on. I want others out there to know that they are not alone, and help is only a prayer away. Keep on fighting. You have others on your team. You can beat anything.
