My husband was diagnosed in 2000 with Multiple sclerosis. I started having neurological problems in 2002 while pregnant with our 4th and final child. I recently also got a Multiple sclerosis diagnosis. We have a very high deductible to meet yearly, and we do not have the typical co-pays. Our insurance company gets us a "negotiated" amount, which doesn't help us much at all. We are both scheduled to start a very expensive injection/treatment for our MS, which we are told that this will cost around $28,000 per year. We simply feel that we should do something to possibly slow down the progression of this sometimes devastating disease, as we have 4 kids to raise age 12 and under. We are still very shocked that we both have MS, I guess it is not totally unheard of, but at the same time, pretty rare. Our 7 year old son has ADHD, for that he is taking strattera, which is also pretty costly every month. It has made such a positive change in him, so somehow we are scraping to afford it every month. Although all this has happened to our family, we still feel very blessed, and do count those blessings daily. We just wish there was a way to afford these much needed prescription drugs.
