When Your Insurance Fails You

I have been dealing with migraines for over 20 years, and I can not begin to remember all the doctors I have seen, in Virginia and New York. My family doctor really did a lot of research on the newest types of treatment for migraines. For the first time I felt I had told my story, my symptoms, how it affects my daily life and much more to someone who was listening. I remained under his care until I was sent to a pain clinic. I have to give my pcp a lot of thanks for trying everything that was available to him over the years. And he was my doctor for 11 years.

My first visit at the pain clinic was certainly not very impressive. After I had explained everything tothe Dr. and told him where the headaches started (in my neck & up the back of my head to the right side of my body.) I have constant left eye pain. This doctors answer was to put me on Methadone and then I received a series of shots in my head. At one point in time I received 12 shots in my head and temple inside of 3 days with no relief. Needless to say my job life was gradually coming to an end, just when I got the job I had been wanting in a hospital. The methadon affected me so badly it became a problem for me, while I was working. I didn't want to do anything to hurt someone and not even remember it. That's when I decided I had to change doctors once again.

This doctor is my gift from God. As I explained my symptoms and pain to him I could tell he was genuinely listening. When he examed me, he put his finger on the exact spot that the pain emminated from. I was unbelievably pleased, surprised and so grateful. I found out I had a ruptured disk at C2-3, and a herniated disk at C3. He installed a spinal cord stimulater and the pain in my neck is very much improved. I still have the migraines, and because I have taken so many medicines I have GERD. My insurance won'y pay for the only med that will help. Nexium. Can you help?
