I have high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperetension, morbid obesity, congestive heart failure, & severe sleep apnea. Do you know that if you have a lapse in health insurance coverage of more than 62 days in a calendar year, the insurance companies can invoke a little known clause that allows them to NOT pay for any claim relating to your pre-existing condition. They are allowed to invoke this clause for a period of up to 12 months. I take maintenance medicine for several of the conditions that I have. In some cases, I take 2-3 presciptions for one condition. I have several prescriptions that cost $500-$700 per month. The insurance companies use this clause in every chance they get just so that they can cut costs by invoking this clause.
