My with story begins with my marriage of twenty six years ending this year. My marriage was abusive. I filed for the divorce. I had to apply for assistance at DSHS to help with medical, presciptions, and financial. My ex husband stopped all my benefits immediately.
I suffer from a number of physical problems as well as from depression. I have other mental issues as well.
DSHS helped me for a couple of months with a grant which included medical and prescription coverage. I had to transition through medication changes. DSHS would not cover some of the brands of medications I was prescribed and had been taking for some time. I went through a living hell with the physical and emotional roller coaster rides I went on. My pharmacy is still trying too get approval for one of my regular medications. DSHS required that I try two or three others before allowing my regular medication to be approved. This still hasn't happened.
I began receiving spousal support of seven hundred fifty dollars a month. I reported it to DSHS. There response was to axe all the benefits I was receiving. I now have no medical or prescription coverage and am forced to cancel my doctors appointments. Worse yet, I have already begun to suffer from not having medication I require.
My physical and mental well being are at stake. I'm having difficulty transitioning through life's changes without having to deal with this as well. I'm gaining a better understanding of why we have so many homeless people and mentally ill people out there alone.
I'm thankful for the friends and the resources I have been able to access.
