One of our son's has multiple diagnosis including Bipolar Rapid Cycling, Tourette's, and an Atypical Partial Complex Siezure Disorder. We have our own business, and have been paying $1340/month to Blue Cross/Blue Shield. We have been members since 1992. After a 5 month hospitalization in the fall of 2006, the coverage jumped from $1140 to $1340. By May of this year, we could no longer pay for insurance, and all of the co-pays we owed to physicians, and hospitals. We had to choose between our home, or health insurance, therefore we chose our home. Our son has recently graduated from High School, and is working, but does not qualify for insurance. His hospitalization has given him a new chance for life, but subsequently cost him the insurance and prescription coverage he needs. We have four children, one of whom has recently required shoulder surgery, and is still recovering. I try to live one day at a time, as that is really all any of us have, however it is difficult to imagin life for our 18 year old son without his medication. I am looking into any legitimate options, and was referred to this program by one of our son's case managers at Vocational Rehabilitation. The people in our country pay enough in taxes for all of us to receive basic health care, and required medication. My hope is by speaking out, my voice will join the millions of other fellow citizens in the United States demanding a change in the way our taxes are spent. Thank you in advance for any help this program may be able to provide. Very sincerely yours.
