It gets so tired sometimes when you're trying to keep track of everything you need to do at home and making sure everthing runs smoothly. At times we, as parents do not realize that we are so involved in trying so hard to keep our family together and taken care of that we forget about the most important things; our children. Yes, we have to pay the mortgage, or rent, the bills and water the lawn but even when we are trying to do so, we are not accomplishing the most important goal in our lives as parents. Sometime ago in the course of my life i fell into a depression and ended up taking medications to feel better. People who has been or are in this situation know how frustrating it is because you,as a parent have to be strong and alert but going through something like depression kind of makes it harder. What I did not realized was that my depression was affecting my fifteen year old son in a way that i was not aware of at all. He was sleeping too much, always tired and did not want to go outside and play with his friends. I always thought that symptoms of depression where only known as sadness, avoiding been around people including your own family etc. Not only did i not know this, but also ignored the truth about depresion in teen agers. To me that was not consivable. I completally lost it there for a wile and my son lost it with me until I realized what was going on. I thank god that today we are both doing well and depression free but this was a lesson for me because now i understand that we cannot fix the whole world around us but our lives inside our loved ones is what we have to focus on. The most important thing to remember is that we cannot change everything but we can sure live tring.
