PLEASE HELP (1)
IN MARCH, I NOTICED THAT I WAS UNABLE TO SEE VERY WELL. I WENT TO MY REGULAR EYE DOCTOR , WHICH CHECKED MY EYES AND SAID,"THAT I NEEDED TO SEE A SPECIALIST RIGHT AWAY. I MADE A CALL TO THE EYE SURGEON AT ECU WHICH TOLD ME I WOULD NEED BETWEEN 5,000 TO 17,000 DOLLARS UP FRONT FOR EYE SURGERY. MY NIECE TRIED THE LIONS CLUB WHICH TOLD HER THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP , I ALSO WENT TO SOCIAL SERVICES WHICH REFERRED ME TO THE BLIND COMMISSION. WHICH WE MADE A TRIP TO DUPLIN COUNTY AND MET WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE BLIND COMMISSION. THERE I FOUND HELP WITH MY DOCTORS VISIT AND MY EYE SURGERY. IT IS NOW JULY AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WORK SINCE MARCH, NOT ABLE TO DRIVE HAS STOPPED ME FROM WORKING. I AM TO FOLLOW UP WITH THE EYE SURGEON IN SEPTEMBER. BUT UNTIL THEN I REALLY COULD USE SOME HELP WITH MY REGULAR MEDICATIONS FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE , DIABETES, AND HIGH CHOLESTEROL. I AM ON ABOUT SEVEN MEDICINES DAILY AND I HAVE NO INSURANCE. IHAVE WORKED FOR THE SAME PEOPLE SINCE 1972 WHICH CARRIED INSURANCE ON ME UNTIL ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO WHEN I STARTED HAVING THE MAJORITY OF THESE PROBLEMS. THE INSURANCE HAD GONE UP SO MUCH THAT THE PERSON I WORKED FOR COULD NO LONGER OFFER THIS TO ME. I WAS THE ONLY EMPLOYEE ON THIS FARM. SO IT WAS NOT BENEFICIAL TO MY EMPLOYER TO KEEP IT. PLEASE IF THERE IS ANY HELP THAT YOU CAN OFFER. PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANKS
