A new study released by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which looked at 2.4 billion medications prescribed in 2005 found that 118 million were for antidepressants. Between the time periods of 1988-1994 and 1999-2000 adult use of antidepressants has almost tripled.

Drugs for controling high blood pressure drugs came in second with 113 million prescriptions.
