July 18, 2007... a day i will never forget. You always hear about car accidents, but you never expect them to happen to you. Well, it happened to me. I was driving and got T-boned on the driver's side and totaled my car. My daughter who s 3 yrs old was in the backseat on the passenger side, she was truly blessed that all she received was a bruise from her seat belt in her car seat. However I wasn't as lucky. they had to use the jaws of life to remove me from the car and then was air-lifted to the hospital where I spent a month in a half there. I sustained multiple injuries. I shattered my left side of my pelvis and have a plate, pins, and screws that will remain permanently, I also broke my jaw and had it wired for 3 weeks. I dislocated my right elbow, they set it the night of my accident, but with all the swelling it popped out of place and I had to go in for another surgery. The company i worked for promised that my job was secure, however since then learned that was a lie, they waited the 12 weeks that they had to then they terminated me. I now have no insurance, and I am home but still have extensive therapy I have to with a home health company. Not only that I also have medicine I am required to take and can not afford them.I am fighting with Department of Social Services and Medicaid. There is so much red tape that it is no wonder people don't fight for what we've worked so hard for. One would think that is why we are paying taxes because they are suppose to help in time of need.
