When I was 16 years old I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. I soon dropped out of High School because I was sick so often I couldn't make it to my classes. My parents were divorced a year later, and I ended up staying with my grandparents. My dad was in California, and my mom in Massachusetts (I'm in Utah). Neither were in the position to provide medical or financial support.
The state provided for my medical expenses and also for food. I went back to school as a Senior and was able to graduate. After High School, I found I couldn't do many normal job functions. I tried to work as a janitor, but quit when I couldn't complete the majority of what I was asked to do.
I managed to find a fairly good job doing phone computer support. After six months I got sick again, and was fired while on a two week sick leave.
I found another job doing similar work, and have been working at it for several months now. I start school at a University this upcoming January (2008). I'll be working on my degree in Computer Science, and I intend to go on to Law School.
