I was diagnosed as diabetic over 10 years ago. I usually keep my blood sugar under control, but have let my blood sugar get too low on a few too many occasions. On one particular occasion, I was helping to set up for a big New Year’s Eve party. While setting up tables and chairs, I was trying to get everything done as quickly as possible and ignored the signs that my blood sugar was getting too low - not able to concentrate, hands shaking, etc. I woke up in the hospital with a big cut on the back of my head and blood on my clothes. Even though I was able to go home after just a few hours, I wasn’t able to go to the party I had spent so much time helping to plan. At least my friends got to enjoy the evening, although they were concerned about me and my health.
