At the age of 4 I was diagnosed with Asthma. One of the worst cases that doctor had seen. Throughout the years my mother did her best to provide the medications I needed to survive and breathe better. At 6 years old, I was diagnosed with A.D.D. YAY! Yet more medical expenses for my single mother to fork out. As the years passed my asthma got better and so did the A.D.D. at 18 I started smoking (stupidly). The asthma gave me little problems for several years afterwords. Now at 29 years old I have quit smoking (5 months smoke free now) and my asthma has been so bad that I find myself in the hospital at least once a week if not twice in the emergency care ward. I was excited to start this job at an old employer because they offered benefits. Little did I know that the generic drugs that were covered by the plan were to soon be removed from the accepted generic drug list. Pro Air HFA, Proventil HFA, Advair HFA, Azmacort, and albuterol solution for my nebulizer - all no longer covered by my insurance. Now i'm paying roughly $350 a month for prescriptions when i only work part time at minimum wage. The company does not offer better benefits for part timers so i'm forced to struggle to make my way to survive. I have been searching for relief for over 2 years now to break the burden of the financial hardship of these completely over priced prescriptions. Can anyone help?! I'm losing faith fast and my breathing worsens daily and i'm out of all of but one inhaler and have no money to get more.
