(The Tennessean) No cure has been discovered for Type 1 diabetes, a disease in which the body's immune system destroys the part of the pancreas that regulates blood sugar. But researchers say they are making strides to develop an artificial pancreas that will eliminate some of the daily challenges that Type 1 diabetics face and protect them against health issues such as blindness or coma.
