After being told by numerous physicians for more than 20 years that my pain was psychological, "get used to it--it comes with age", that I was overemotional and a hypochondriac, and other insulting and/or insensitive comments, with no relief, FINALLY--our company changed health insurance providers and I needed to find a new primary care physician. First visit she "discovered" high blood pressure and cholesterol and a possible previous heart attack. She sent me to a cardiologist who recommended a sleep study, which led to a diagnosis of severe sleep apnea. Second visit to my new doctor, she diagnosed fibromyalgia. With new treatment and sleeping well, I am not pain free, but feel much better, have much more energy, and I no longer pray to die to be relieved of the pain.
