It can be very difficult to get all my medications, when you have no insurance. I have found that if you ask the doctor for samples or for generic prescriptions that won't be very expensive, they will usually help. Also, using PAP, the patient Assistance program online or by calling their 800 number, can get you free or discounted medications. Pfizer has the easiest one I think.
When living in Des Moines, most Doctor offices there had someone who would do the patient assistance for you. Here in the Quad Cities, there are a few places, like CHC (Community Health Center) who has a person doing the patient assistance. they do charge a fee to process the medications through their pharmacy. Most of the doctor's offices will work with you on it, but you still have to do all the legwork and fill out all the forms. It's worth checking the manufacturers online to see if they have patience assistance. i was able to get my artificial tears, over the counter, free from the manufacturer.
