My daughter has had anorexia nervosa for three years. Insurance would not cover any more than 25 days in an inpatient or outpatient facility for the year. After attending a facility we would hope that she could make it through the year so she could attend again the next year. At times we would have to hospitalize her to get some weight on but the hospitals didn't want these patients in the hospital. Finally I had to go to the state for help and we had to go out of state to a hospital . Once she got some weight on we had to transfer her to a residential program where she also attends school. It has only been 5 months but she has gained almost 30 pounds and she seems to be happier and doing well! The real test will be when she comes home and has to deal with all the teenage pressures of school, friends and life! We have faith that she will be able to beat this illness!!
