Ever since I was in kindergarten whenever there was a parent teacher confrence the teachers told my mom I needed to be put on medication. She refused to put me on because she didn't beleive in it. My grades had always suffered terribly. I have never been able to focus or sit still. I have a harder time comprehending things because my mind is moving so fast. then when I entered the 9th grade my mom decided I was old enough to decide If I wanted to be put on medication. So I really researched everything and talked to my doctor about what would be best since i had been officially diagnosed with extreme adhd .So we decided on adderall. My mom was a bit skeptical because of the addiction rate but decided it was okay because I have never shown any signs of an addictive personality. My grades went from all f's & d's to all A's and B's to all A's since I've been taking it. I had state insurance that payed for 100% of the $240 cost every month. But then just a few months later they decided to switch me from the adderall xr to the genetic non xr which I didn't do to good on. So I tried that for a month and it didnt go overwell so since I had tried something else they decided to pay for xr perscription again. So i did great through out highschool but recently turned 18 so since it was a state program I got dropped and now have no coverage. I just started school as a freshman in college and neither I or my parents can afford the perscription. So we looked up a health plan because if they were going to have to spend that much money then I should be getting health coverage too. Well today I just my letter from the company denying me because I'm too much of a "risk" .. pretty much they dont want to pay for it either. Since I have a hard enough time functioning in nomral life without meds I'm not sure I'll make it through college without them.So I am here looking for any help on my prescription possible .
