When my wife found out she was pregnant with my oldest son we were very happy. Everything was going great until a little over half way through her pregnancy. It was at that time that she woke up one night with a 104% fever. Needless to say we were both alarmed and we headed for the emergency room. When we got there she was listless and not responsive. About an hour or two later the doctors came out and informed me that both of my wife’s kidneys had failed and were now dying inside her body, disturbing news to say the least. They started her on dialysis immediately. I don’t remember the name of the disease they said she had, but it was very rare. The doctors however assured me that the odds were not in favor for my son’s survival. It was a long tough pregnancy from that point on, and I braced my self for the worst possible scenario. My wife was in the hospital for a solid 3 months be for the day arrived. It was 22 hours of long hard labor, but my son made it through. My son is now 15 years old. My wife has had 1 kidney transplant that lasted 10 years. Now she is back on dialysis and waiting for her second.
