I feel that even if you go to Doctor and therapy you can benefit from support group. There are many support groups out there. Lot of mental hospitals will have them and give you list of others. I found a great one in Joliet IL. It's at Silver Cross Hospital. It meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month and you don't have to sign up even though the website for the hospital will say so. You just show up to one of the meeting. They are free. They are located on 3 rd floor. All you need to do is call the hospital or when you arrive that day let them know what class your looking for tell them on 3rd floor some where they will direct you to the room. This support group is lot different. You do get information about bipolar but not from education view as much as from experience and by asking questions in group. We do joke around a little bit to lighten the mood. I feel this is a great group. I get so much out of it. One thing is you don't have to have bipolar to attend you can come if you know some one who has it and you are looking to get support for your self. or you bringing a bipolar person with and you are supporting them. Matter where you live if you are bipolar or know some one that is and want support them join a support group. Need to give any group a least 3 times of meeting in the group to see if you like it. If you don't talk to person in charge after group see if they can help you or if they suggest a different group that will fit your needs.
