Anxiety and Panic Disorders

Panic attacks and anxiety attacks have been a part of my life for the past four years. We've all heard of the generic example of a panic attack--the one about how panic attacks feel like emerging death, like heart attacks. However, I can attest, the amount of stress, fear and worry a panic attack instills within its victims can never sufficiently be expressed in words.

Panic attacks transform its victim's mindset. No longer is she thinking clearly, and within the context of a situation. Instead, her head races along with her thrusting heart, her hand incessantly shivers, her body sweats and her back aches. All through the while experiencing these physical aliments, a nunexplainable sense of terror and anxiety overcomes her body, rising from her feet and penetrating at her heart. Her heart is hit the most by this unexplainable anxiety, and begins to beat rapidly. She begins to lose her breath. The only experience I can compare a panic attack to is the fear one feels on a roller coaster, amplified two times, and combined with the sense of anxiousness one feels before taking a life-changing examination, like the GRE's or the SATs.

While her body is going through these aforementioned indescribable changes, her mind races. Suddenly, what looks like a regular room holding a dining table, becomes a table, embossed with the letters "RTE" on the side, surrounded by four chairs angled in a less than 150 degrees angles. Every detail becomes apparent and repeats incessantly in the mind.

This is the life of a person victimized by a panic and anxiety disorder.
This is an example of what I live through everyday of my life. This is what I have to learn how to manage with, this is what I am required to cope through.
