Osteo Arthritis (1)
I was diagnosed with ,osteo arthritis, at the age of 40. Since then my life has changed in the sense that I have to live within certain limitations. I can no longer garden (bending) or do some of the crafts I enjoyed (beadwork). I have to use good common sense before taking on a project so that I don't end up in pain and incapacitated the following day. Stretching , is one of the ways I handle the tightness that occurs with arthritis. Another method of relief is water therapy. Walking also helps to keep the muscles in my back loose and it is something I do everyday. I find that if I live within the boundaries of my limitations that I can manage quite well and so I make a conscientious effort everyday to do so.
Motrin, is my drug of choice as it works directly on the muscles and helps to alleviate the pain. Sometimes I need something stronger for the pain and when that happens I have to resort to Vicoden. I try not to take it too often as I don't want the bad side affects, however, there are days when it isn't a choice.
I would love to hear from others who suffer from this ailment and hear what works for them.
