STROKE (1)
I had a really bad headache for about a week, I don't have health insurance, so I didn;t go to the doctor. I took over the counter headache medicine it didn't help. I was sitting in my living room one evening and my workd went dark and I couldn't see anything. I was taken to the hospital and after running several tests they weren't sure what was wrong, sent me home with some pain killers, that didn't work either. I spent the nexct 2 weeks seeing different doctors, getting different test, but no one could figure out what was wrong, and I still couldn't see anything and the pain in my head was unbearable. Finally with the help of friends and family I was taken to a medical doctor specialzing in eye disorders. He said he could take the pain in my head away, but I would probably never see again. By this point my medical bills were unbelievable and I was taken several different kinds of medicine, that were not helping. This doctor precribed predisone in a high dose, warned me of the side effects, and I went home and took the first dose. By the nect morning I could see shadows, by a week I could see shapes, and by 2 months I had my vision back. Medical bills were in the thousands from the doctors and hospitals, they did not even help me. The eye doctor on the other hand charged $120.00 and the prescription was $12.00. It's unbealievable in this day in age that you can not count on the hospitals and doctors working there to help you, you have to help yourself. I thank god for my family and friends, if not for them I would probably still be blind.
