A new study shows that bipolar disorder in American children and adolescent is up 40 times between 1993 and 2003. That is a gigantic jump in diagnosed cases in just 10 years!

Some experts believe that this may be due to the more liberal way that doctors are using to come up with the diagnosis. Critics say that it became a "catch all" diagnosis applied to any children that show somewhat aggressive behavior. Bipolar disorder is characterized by frequent mood swings and is usually treated with psychiatric drugs.
