What Medications Work for You?

| I was wondering which medications everyone is using to help deal with chronic pain. What is your medication regimen? Do you use prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, herbal remedies? |

| Well, I guess I'll go first. I am not currently taking any prescription medications to control my pain, at least not since I lost my health insurance several years ago. I used to take Tylenol and Codeine, along with a nightly dose of Flexeril for muscle spasms. If the pain got really intense, I'd take an occasional Vicodin.
The past several years, my regimen has included alternating Ibuprofen with Tylenol Arthritis (time-released acetametaphin). For muscle spasms, I rely on Valerian herbal extract. The pain control is not wonderful, but the OTC drugs do take the edge off my back pain. |
